Sew much to tackle

So, I am getting closer to the day where I actually tackle a real project with my new (as if I ever used any other) sewing machine.  My fear grows as each step gets me closer - the anticipation is exciting and terrifying at the same time.  I recently cut out some "rectangles" to start a project I have been planning for months.

Crocheted Wristers (Also Called Fingerless Gloves)

Instructions are written using 5 weight yarn.  Any type of yarn and any size hook can be used, but changes will need to be made in the number of chains and rows to reflect the changes as needed.  The stitches used in this pattern are chain, double crochet and slip stitches.  You can change the stitches to singles, half doubles, triples or any other combination of stitches you like.  Again, you will need to adjust the number of rows to account for the difference in size of the stitches

My how time flies and my first written instructions for a crochet project

My how time flies!  I have tried to stay on top of things but things just seem to get in the way.

To catch people up, our family had an enjoyable visit on CHRISTmas day.  The visit, unfortunately, ended with an emergency room visit that turned into a two week hospital stay.  I was the unfortunate patient for this visit.

We had just finished eating our CHRISTmas dinner at my parents' home when I began to have extremely painful cramps in my stomach.  I had been experiencing this type of pain for over a year, by now, so was not immediately alarmed.  However, things began to deteriorate rapidly.  I asked Michael to take me home when waves of nausea joined the worsening cramps.  We weren't home for long when the nausea turned into other issues.  It was at this point that I realized that this was not normal.  We hurried off to the emergency room, prepared for a long night ahead.

What's for dinner?

Tonight's post was actually meant for last night since that was when the meal was prepared.  However, I got tied up in posting the first two posts and trying to get the rest of the blog in place and never quite got around to writing it up.  Since tonight is more of the same, I figured it was as good a time as any to write it up.
Last night for dinner I was looking for something quick and easy that could be cooking while I was whipping up a couple of batches of homemade lip butter.  I also was looking for a way to use up leftover homemade chicken noodle soup.  I guess I should be sure to back up and post my recipe for that part before the one for tonight, but forgive me please...I don't have pictures of the soup.

Lip Butter Recipe and Lessons Learned

My son, Jarod, is the inspiration for this crafting endeavor.  I had been planning to try my hand at this for some time but with CHRISTmas presents to make, that was put on a back burner.  That is, until Jarod had a medical need for some pure, unadulterated, unscented, undyed, unsweetened lip balm or butter.

Let's Get Things Rolling!

Greetings!  Welcome to our blog!

We are working to get this place up and running as diligently as we can.  We hope you will find it insightful, useful, inviting, pleasant, enjoyable and all of those other wonderful, warm and fuzzy types of feelings.  We conceptualized this blog, initially, to be a place to document and share our journey and experiences through our crafting endeavors.  However, the more we worked on it, the more we realized we were being called to do something more and bigger than us in so many ways.
